Choosing the Right CBD

Choosing the Right CBD

Choosing the Right CBD —

The world of CBD can be extremely intimidating, especially if you are just beginning your research. There are countless websites, studies, and testimonials with seemingly endless information about CBD and the benefits. Many CBD companies claim they are the “best” or that their products can “cure” what ails you. Most of these claims tend to be false as CBD is not a “cure-all” and knowing what you’re buying makes all the difference. Unfortunately, many companies have taken advantage of the general public by using gimmicks and sales tactics creating mass confusion about CBD and its effects. Choosing the right CBD doesn’t have to be difficult. Simply put, it comes down to ingredients, potency, and serving size.

Ingredients

As with any product we consume, most of us seem to generally be concerned with the ingredients, how it’s made, and where it comes from. The phrase “less is more” fits best when talking about CBD products. While many companies use additives, fillers, and flavor, these are not necessary and, in some cases, can make the CBD concentration weak. However, many companies, including Green Balance, use only two ingredients: Industrial Hemp (CBD) and fractionated coconut oil (MCT). This keeps the CBD concentration pure without any fillers. Ingredients are a key factor when choosing the right CBD.

Potency

Potency is another important factor. You may see bottles of CBD oil containing 500mg, 2,000mg, 3,000mg, and even up to 5,000mg. These high potency oils seem fantastic at first glance but beware of bottle size and ingredients. As an example, Green Balance carries three potencies of CBD oil (500mg, 1,000mg, and 1,500mg) in a 0.5 oz. (15mL) bottle. This bottle may seem small, but the CBD milligrams are high, which means less oil under your tongue per serving. Most companies use a 1 oz. (30mL) bottle with similar potency levels. There are other companies using 2, 3, and even 4 oz. bottles! A 4 oz. bottle of 5,000mg looks like a super-potent oil but breaking it down per ounce comes to 1,250mg (or 625mg per 0.5 oz.). This makes it no different than most others, except for having to use A LOT more oil per serving and it most likely has “other” ingredients to help fill those big bottles.

Serving Size

Serving size is another big factor when choosing the right CBD. As a point of reference, research has shown that most people are taking 15-20mg per serving for their mild/moderate ailments/symptoms. With that in mind, let’s look at the Green Balance 0.5 oz. 500mg bottle of oil from above. One half of one dropper will yield 17mg of CBD. For comparison, to get that same serving in the 4 oz. 5,000mg oil, one would need to take 5-6 full droppers of oil daily. Yikes!! Furthermore, because Green Balance uses only two ingredients, there is no lingering aftertaste after the oil is swallowed. Thinking of all the other ingredients in that bigger bottle, I can’t imagine the taste being very pleasant.

You may now be wondering where to start. At Green Balance, we always suggest starting low and going slow. CBD works differently with everyone because of our make-up, metabolism, fat content, age, and weight. Following the guidelines and suggestions above can help in choosing the right CBD.
