Understanding CBD Types

Full Spectrum vs. Isolate vs. Broad Spectrum —

When shopping for CBD oil, deciphering the information on the labels can tend be a bit tricky, especially if you are new to CBD. In this article, we’ll discuss the types of CBD and the differences between full spectrum vs. isolate vs. broad spectrum.

Full Spectrum

The difference between the three types of CBD is due to the chemical content in each of them. Full spectrum CBD oil contains all the cannabinoids as well as other components from the hemp plant. This includes fatty acids, terpenes, and other cannabinoids, such as THC. It is important to note that in order to sell CBD in Indiana, the THC content must be under 0.3%, which is not nearly enough to produce any psychoactivity or “high” feeling. Full spectrum CBD provides even more benefits due to the healing properties of the other compounds and cannabinoids in it. This includes having more of an anti-inflammatory response as well as provides a stronger benefit to a person’s overall well-being.

Isolate

A CBD isolate contains only CBD without any of the other cannabinoids, fatty acids, or terpenes found in the full spectrum. This is because the cannabinoids are extracted, allowing for the CBD to then be filtered out. It then goes through winterization, which is a chilling process that removes all the other compounds. CBD isolate is generally sold as an oil, however, it is also available as a crystalline powder and because of its versatility, it can be added to any food or drink without any taste or smell. A CBD isolate product can be attractive because of having zero THC. However, it’s important to remember that it doesn’t pack quite the punch as a full spectrum product.

Broad Spectrum

Broad spectrum is the middle ground between full spectrum and isolate. It contains all of the plant’s original cannabinoids and other components except for THC. This allows you to reap the benefits of the other components without having THC in it. Broad spectrum goes through the normal extraction process all CBD goes through, but the THC is removed in the last stages of processing. This type is beneficial for those want the benefits of cannabinoids without THC.

When looking at the main types of CBD; full spectrum vs. isolate vs. broad spectrum products, it is important to note the differences between the three before purchasing product that is suited for one’s individual needs.
